Ceko Bersiap Hadapi Afrika Selatan pada Laga Hidup Mati Piala Dunia

Tim nasional Ceko bersiap menghadapi Afrika Selatan dalam pertandingan lanjutan Grup A Piala Dunia FIFA 2026 di Stadion Atlanta pada Kamis malam demi menjaga peluang lolos ke babak gugur setelah kedua tim menelan kekalahan di laga perdana.

Pertemuan ini juga menjadi catatan sejarah baru karena mempertemukan dua pelatih berusia 70-an tahun di putaran final Piala Dunia. Pelatih Ceko Miroslav Koubek merefleksikan perjalanannya kembali dari masa pensiun demi memimpin tim nasional di ajang tertinggi.

"For me, retirement isn't something I urgently need at sixty-five. I spent ten months trying out what that life is like, only to realize I simply have to come back," ujar Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Koubek yang saat ini berusia 74 tahun menganggap turnamen di Amerika Utara ini sebagai puncak pencapaian profesionalnya sebelum benar-benar berhenti.

"And the championship is the challenge of my life," kata Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Koubek menambahkan bahwa posisi melatih tim nasional ini akan menjadi pengabdian terakhirnya dalam dunia sepak bola profesional.

"And for me, this is definitely the last job of my life," tutur Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Menjelang pertandingan malam ini, Koubek memprediksi adanya perubahan taktik dari kubu lawan yang sempat tampil defensif saat melawan Meksiko.

"South Africa chose an unusual style against Mexico," kata Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Koubek memperkirakan strategi yang diterapkan oleh anak asuh Hugo Broos akan jauh lebih terbuka dalam laga kedua ini.

"With us, I’m expecting them to play with a slightly different strategy than they did against Mexico" ujar Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Pelatih kawakan tersebut mengakui adanya tekanan emosional menjelang laga krusial ini, namun ia menganggapnya sebagai hal yang wajar.

"Let me call it a healthy tension before a match," kata Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Ia menegaskan bahwa timnya tidak akan goyah dan fokus penuh untuk mengamankan poin pertama mereka di grup.

"Well, I’m not going to crumble under the pressure. Of course not, but of course I feel tension." tutur Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Kedua tim berada dalam situasi yang sama-sama terjepit akibat tidak memperoleh poin pada pertandingan pembuka masing-masing.

"We’re in the same situation as our opponent, we didn’t get a point after the first match. That’s a complication, but we have all our efforts on winning, on getting the points. We have a different opponent right now and of course we will adjust our strategy to this new opponent." kata Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Terkait dengan postur tubuh para pemainnya yang diunggulkan dalam bola-bola mati, Koubek tidak ingin mengumbar strategi detailnya.

"We have tall players, but if we line up the taller players, well, we are not monsters in terms of height," ujar Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Ia memilih untuk merahasiakan susunan pemain penyerang maupun bertahan hingga pertandingan dimulai.

"We’ll see whether we keep the lineup the same in terms of height. Let’s be surprised." kata Miroslav Koubek, Pelatih Ceko.

Di kubu Afrika Selatan, pelatih Hugo Broos juga telah merencanakan masa pensiunnya segera setelah kompetisi ini berakhir demi keluarga.

"In recent years, I've often thought about quitting. I don't want to dedicate every day to football anymore. I just don't have the energy for it. Sometimes I have to force myself to sit at the computer and rewatch a match," ujar Hugo Broos, Pelatih Afrika Selatan.

Mantan bek timnas Belgia tersebut menyatakan keinginan kuatnya untuk menghabiskan waktu bersama cucu-cucunya kelak.

"After the World Cup, I'll call it quits and enjoy another 20 years with my grandchildren." kata Hugo Broos, Pelatih Afrika Selatan.

Kritik tajam dari dalam negeri mengalir ke Broos akibat formasi lima bek yang defensif, termasuk dari mantan penyerang legendaris Afrika Selatan Mark Williams yang menyarankan perubahan formasi menjadi 4-4-2.

"I liked what coach Broos did against Mexico… that 5-3-2, but the problem is that when you play with two strikers, you need to have somebody that’s going to supply the ball, and we lacked that against Mexico," ujar Mark Williams, Legenda Afrika Selatan.

Williams menyarankan agar pemain kreatif seperti Oswin Appollis dan Relebohile Mofokeng diturunkan sejak awal laga guna menyuplai bola ke lini depan.

"So, we need to start Appollis and Mofokeng so that they can supply our strikers with the ball. At least one between the two should have started against Mexico. We’ve got the players, and we can do better.

We must go for a 4-4-2. To take the pressure off Foster, play Makgopa with [Iqraam] Rayners upfront." kata Mark Williams, Legenda Afrika Selatan.

Secara khusus, Williams memuji karakter penyerang Evidence Makgopa yang dinilai memiliki keunggulan dalam kerja sama tim.

"What I love about the boy is that he’s got a lovely team spirit in him. I really think he can feed off Rayners’ pace," tutur Mark Williams, Legenda Afrika Selatan.

Ia pun optimistis bahwa skuad Bafana Bafana mampu mencetak gol melimpah meski sempat mandul di laga pertama.

"I think Bafana Bafana will win 3-1. I know you will ask me, ‘But Mark, they’ve [not] scored three goals in a while? Yes, but they have capable players, and I believe they will go all out tomorrow," kata Mark Williams, Legenda Afrika Selatan.

Afrika Selatan dipastikan tampil tanpa gelandang Siphephelo Sithole dan Themba Zwane akibat kartu merah yang didapat pada laga sebelumnya melawan Meksiko.
