Operator Teleprompter Gedung Putih Dinonaktifkan Akibat Skandal Transaksi Informasi Orang Dalam

Pemerintah Amerika Serikat menonaktifkan operator teleprompter veteran Gedung Putih, Gabriel Perez, tanpa gaji pada Kamis, 16 Juli 2026, setelah ia diselidiki atas dugaan memanfaatkan draf pidato Presiden Donald Trump untuk mendulang keuntungan finansial pribadi.

Perez diduga mengeruk keuntungan hingga lebih dari 100.000 dolar AS dengan memasang taruhan ilegal pada pasar prediksi Kalshi, khususnya pada kategori kata atau frasa spesifik yang akan diucapkan oleh Trump dalam berbagai pidato resminya.

Badan pengawas bursa komoditas AS, CFTC, kini tengah melakukan penyelidikan mendalam terhadap aktivitas transaksi yang mencurigakan tersebut setelah mendapatkan laporan langsung dari tim kepatuhan internal Kalshi.

Juru Bicara Gedung Putih, Karoline Leavitt, menyampaikan bahwa keputusan penonaktifan Perez diambil langsung oleh Presiden Trump yang merasa sangat kecewa dengan tindakan asisten teknisnya tersebut.

"Our surveillance team promptly flagged and referred these trades to the CFTC, and we are cooperating and assisting regulators," kata Bobby DeNault, Kepala Penegakan Hukum Kalshi.

"The White House has strict ethics guidelines that we expect all staffers and officials to follow," kata Davis Ingle, Juru Bicara Gedung Putih.

"You know, when you go up here, you take a big chance, especially me because I go off teleprompter about 80% of the time," kata Donald Trump, Presiden Amerika Serikat.

Perez, yang memiliki gaji tahunan sebesar 175.000 dolar AS sebagai deputi asisten presiden, saat ini dilaporkan bersikap kooperatif dan sedang menjajaki kesepakatan damai dengan CFTC untuk mengembalikan seluruh keuntungan yang diperolehnya.
